Gretsch Audio-Visual collection
Zach S. Henderson Library Special Collections
This collection contains audio-visual materials that have either been produced, recorded, or collected by the Gretsch Company from 1981-2002. The recordings are mostly on VHS, though there are some U-Matic tapes. Content of recordings include Gretsch Anniversary dinners and performances, televised performances of Gretsch artists or music shows, and commercially produced media related to music.

Gretsch Collection of Leedy Manufacturing Company

This collection contains catalogs and other publications created between 1907-1965 under the Leedy Manufacturing Company brand before production was paused during the 1960s. The binder contains photocopies of the digitized Music Trades Review with mentions of Leedy highlighted.

Gretsch Collection of Slingerland Drum Company

This collection consists of catalogs, correspondence, clippings, administrative papers, and published materials that were either produced by Slingerland Drum Co. or were participated in by the Slingerland Drum Company from the late 1920s through 2003. The bulk of the materials are from the period of time immediately following the Slingerland family selling the company in 1970 until it was bought by Fred Gretsch in the late 1980s.

Gretsch Company records

Spanning 1909-2020, the Gretsch Company records consists of materials created by the Gretsch Company and brand throughout its over 140-year history. Materials include company catalogs, advertisements, and other publications produced by the Gretsch Company. There is also a sizable amount of Gretsch related press and industry articles that have been organized into binders by type or time period.

Guthrie Parker Meade papers

The collection consists of papers of Guthrie P. Meade from 1942-1993, the bulk of which document his naval service aboard the U.S.S. Ancon from 1942-1945. Materials include photographs, printed material, military records, clippings, and journals.

Guy H. Wells papers

The collection consists primarily of writings, notes, and letters spanning 1951-1965 written by South Georgia Teachers college president Guy H. Wells. Materials also include a travel diary, a scrapbook with news clippings, and a CD of scanned images from the collection.

Guyton City Council records

This collection consists of materials related to the Guyton city government. Materials include city council minutes from the time of Guyton’s incorporation in 1887 through 1916; photographs of the city council in 1977, a photograph of Guyton City Hall and a photograph of an open minutes book.

Hand Me My Travelin' Shoes collection

This collection consists of the research papers and recordings compiled by English author Michael Gray during the writing of his book on Georgia blues legend Blind Willie McTell, one of the earliest blues performers to record. Materials range from 1991 to 2010, and include recordings and transcripts of interviews with witnesses and folklorists, images of relevant census records, copies of court records, manuscript drafts, extensive correspondence, and the unissued complete recording of McTell’s last studio session in Atlanta, 1956.

Helen Williams Coxon family papers

The collection consists of the papers of Helen Williams Coxon. Materials date from 1765, bulk 1921-1989, and include correspondence, clippings, printed material, photographs and writings pertaining to Coxon's involvement with the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Colonists; her service with Georgia's Pardons and Paroles Board, the Georgia House of Representatives, and the Georgia Senate; and as editor and publisher of the Ludowici News (Ludowici, Long County, Georgia). Eighteenth and nineteenth-century materials included in the collection were collected by Coxon and pertain to family history.

This collection consists of personal and family papers of Henrietta Lovejoy “Joy” Skinner Wiley. Materials in the collection span 1825-1991 consist of photographs, letters, greeting cards, invitations, scrapbooks, college yearbooks, and various other documents.

Herty Foundation records
Zach S. Henderson Library Special Collections
The collection dates from 1938 to 2001 and consists of meeting minutes, administrative records, photographs, and newspaper clippings documenting the activities of the Herty Foundation, its laboratory, and pilot plant. Photographs include views of the early pilot plant, laboratory, and shipyard around 1938 and the opening of the new pilot plant in 1957. Newspaper clippings report on the Herty Foundation and its work between 1953 and 1980.

Horace and Maggie Simmons Hagin family papers

This collection consists of materials, spanning 1915-1960, related to the education and careers of Horace and Maggie Simmons Hagin’s five daughters: Bertha, Dell, Ruth, Ida Mae, and Louise Hagin. Materials include report cards, bills, notebooks, photographs, and clippings that document their experiences as college students in Statesboro and as teachers in Bulloch County. The collection also includes drafting plates by Ruth Hagin and Barnie Kennedy, as well as a few personal items.

The collection consists of papers of Representative Jack Kingston from 1991-2008. Includes correspondence, newspaper clippings, speeches, minutes of meetings. There are also a number of cassettes and videos both on general subjects of public interest as well as Representative Kingston's radio and TV spots; also a number by Senator Saxby Chambliss of Moultrie.

The collection consists of various personal documents, legislative records, constituent correspondence, press and media activity, audio visual materials, and artifacts from Senator Hill’s life.

Jared A. Fogel photograph collection

The Jared A. Fogel collection is comprised of eighty-five historic photographs ranging from 1860-1960. The photographs depict primarily queer men using figurative body language to indicate their sexuality. The first thirty-one photographs have descriptions provided by original collector, Patrick Hobgood.

Jarrett W. Palmer papers

Assembled by Dr. Jarrett W. Palmer (1874-1969), this collection features documents detailing Palmer's religious and medical practices in Ailey, Ga. Materials span 1895-1964, and include religious and medical publications, bank statements, financial and administrative forms, insurance paperwork, medical records and referrals, various artifacts from his practice, and other relevant documentation.

Joan Finke collection of The Little Theatre of Savannah, Inc.

This collection consists of the letters, notes, and production materials collected by Joan Finke, by way of C. Robert “Bob” Jones. These materials span 1968-1981 and largely concern the activities of The Little Theatre of Savannah, Inc. but also include groups such as The Island Players of St. Simons Island, The Masquers (Armstrong State College’s theater group), Savannah’s symphony, the Georgia Theater Conference and other local groups.

Johann Christoph Bornemann diary and translations

This collection consists of the original diary of German-born surgeon Johann Christoph Bornemann from the early 1750s during his visit to Georgia. Also included are translations of diary excerpts, translations of letters sent from Bornemann to German officials, and a biography compiled by Gertha Reinert. Researcher annotations also appear in the translated diary and letters.
