Alawayne Nessmith papers

This collection consists of the personal papers of Alawayne Nessmith concerning her participation in civic organizations from 1975 to 2000 in Statesboro, Georgia. The primary focus is the Statesboro-Georgia Southern Symphony Guild, but also included are documents related to her involvement in the Statesboro Civic Garden Club and Bulloch Council of Garden Clubs. Materials include organizational minutes, activities, events, and fundraising.

Altamaha Raft Festivals collection

This collection was assembled by Delma Eugene Presley and Norris Kemp Mabry and includes materials related to the Altahama Raft Festival. The festival was part of the National Endowment for the Humanities funded Project RAFT: Restoring Altamaha Folklife Traditions which resulted from interviews with people who lived in the Altamaha River Valley. Materials include first-day cover letters, poster, newspaper clippings, promotional and interpretive brochures.

American Association of University Women Statesboro Branch records

American Legion Auxiliary. Dexter Allen Unit No. 90 records

This collection consists of materials documenting the history of the American Legion Auxiliary. Dexter Allen Unit No. 90. Materials span 1917-1930 and include a record of citations and promotions of soldiers as well as the history of the unit. Also included are postcards and letters from soldiers sent to their families and friends, miscellaneous newspaper clippings, a list of non-military patriots, a list of all Bulloch County WWI Veterans, and theater programs printed in French.

American Loyalists Claims, Series I And Series II: Georgia

This collection consists of transcripts of microfilm copies of historical records pertaining to Georgia compiled by the American Loyalist Claims Commission. The original documents are located in the British National Archives, London (American Loyalists Claims, Series I, A.O. 12, 1776-1831 and Series II A.O. 13, 1780-1835). Zach Henderson Library Special Collections houses five reels of microfilmed claims records; transcriptions of reels 1, 2, and 3 are included in this collection. Materials include indexes to microfilm reels 1, 2, 3, and 5; A total of 1,567 pages of typed transcripts and 17 sheets of negative photocopies detailing the experiences and property holdings of Georgia-based individuals and businesses who submitted claims to the Commission. The collection also includes some materials related to the sale of Creek and Cherokee lands in Georgia during the Colonial and Revolutionary eras.

This collection consists of the papers of Bernard S. Dekle, diplomat, author, and poet. Materials span 1934 - 1984 and include personal and professional correspondence, literary works, notebooks, photographs, and other unpublished writings including the genealogies of the Bowen and Dekle families and a memoir.

Bette B. Anderson papers

This collection consists of papers of Bette B. Anderson from 1977-1981. The papers include general correspondence from the public or friends, chronological files (1977-1978) containing copies of Anderson's outgoing correspondence as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, appointment books (1977-1980), photographs, clippings, and speeches (1977-1980) given by Anderson to various clubs and organizations or as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury. The materials document Anderson's duties in the Treasury Department during President Carter's administration and her interest in finance and banking.

Billy Lee Evans papers

This collection consists of the papers of Billy Lee Evans from 1977-1982. The papers include correspondence, legislative files, clippings, videotapes (1977-1980), and audiotapes documenting Evans' activities as a U.S. Representative from Georgia's 8th District. The materials include information on legislation before Congress, topics of interest to Evans or his constituents, and Evans' service on the U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary, particularly its oversight hearings on personal bankruptcy.

Bland and Keown Family collection

Spanning 1864-2007, this collection contains the personal photos of the Bland and Keown families and their lives in Statesboro, Georgia, as well as abroad in France and Germany. Included are personal documents belonging to the families such as, receipts, obituaries, personal correspondence, published articles, maps, and documents belonging to Oscar Devoy Keown.

Bulloch County Sociological Survey, 1949

This collection includes interview transcripts and demographic records of Statesboro-Bulloch County residents and their views of social class divisions and current events in Bulloch County. Documents were compiled in 1949 by sociological researcher, Bevode C. McCall. His 1954 dissertation, “Georgia Town and Cracker Culture” is a result of this survey.

Bulloch County Sociological Survey, 1969-1972

Collection consists of materials related to Taylor C. Scott’s sociological survey of Statesboro-Bulloch County residents from 1969 to 1972. Materials include completed resident and employment surveys, survey project reports, researcher notes, and general demographic records of Statesboro-Bulloch County residents. Additional documentation of survey methods and data including codebooks, maps, charts, and graphs are included.

Bunce Family papers

Collection spans 1843 to 1995 and contains documents related to James Arthur Bunch’s education at First District Agricultural and Mechanical School and his subsequent career in agriculture as well that of his son Isaac Bunce. Newspaper clippings on the restoration of the Bunce farmhouse and other materials documenting the activities of the Bunce family in Bulloch County are included.
