Georgia B. Watson papers

This collection consists of papers of Georgia B. Watson from 1926-1992. Materials include correspondence, corrected typescripts of Watson's books on retirement and her World War II Army Service with the Women's Army Corps, materials relating to Watson's career at Georgia Southern, clippings by or about Watson, speeches, research notes, and ephemera. The correspondence mainly documents Watson's literary career via correspondence with her editors, publishers, and the public.

Georgia Hagin family papers

This collection consists of letters exchanged by husband and wife during the Civil War; family papers of Hagin and Beasley families; land records and legal documents; postcards; a Populist newspaper, The Silver Dollar, Vol. 1, No. 4 (Jan. 23, 1896, Statesboro, Ga.); and books, including textbooks, from the early twentieth century.

Georgia Heritage Trust records

The collection consists of the Georgia Heritage Trust records from 1971 to 1982 the bulk of which cover the tenure of Dr. George A. Rogers’ tenure under Governor Jimmy Carter. Materials include correspondence, annual reports, financial information, and marketing materials.

Slides, photographs, ephemera and scrapbooks documenting scattered activities at Georgia Southern College in the few years before university status, including the 1987 Retirees Luncheon, Sapelo Island Administrative Development Seminars, the GSC Alumni Association Scholarship Awards (list of winners 1962-1981), photographs of the old Alumni Gym, various invitations and GSC magazines.

Georgia Southern College News scrapbooks

Each box contains a large scrapbook of local and regional newspaper clippings about the college, from First District A & M School in 1923 to Georgia Southern College. There are lone volumes for 1923 and for 1931-1935, then the volumes are relatively constant from 1957-1985. Many of these volumes were prepared by Richard Mandes as head of Georgia Southern College Publicity.

This collection consists of bonds, deeds, cancelled and bad checks, mortgages, banking records, annual reports, insurance policies, and letters pertaining to the legal and financial affairs of Georgia Southern, from before its beginning as the First District Agricultural and Mechanical School to the late years of Georgia Teachers College Also included are documents pertaining to construction and maintenance of campus buildings, a class ring, an award pin, and a vault key.

Gignilliat Family Papers

Spanning 1930-1978, this collection consists of the papers of the Gignilliat family of Savannah, Georgia. The collection primarily contains Clifford Gignilliat Sewell's correspondence (1928-1934), including letters with W.L. Sewell (1928-1932) and others, along with manuscripts of Sewell's works and their source materials. It also includes scrapbooks, loose clippings, and articles written by Sewell, mainly about Savannah's history. The collection also includes correspondence (1891-1908) to and from Robert D. Gignilliat, information on Leigh R. Gignilliat, genealogical data on the Gignilliat family, and family photographs. Find this collection in the libraries' catalog.

This collection consists of papers of the Gignilliat family of Savannah (Ga.) from ca. 1891-1975. The bulk of the collection relates to Clifford Gignilliat Sewell and includes correspondence (1928-1932) between Sewell and W.L. Sewell as well as correspondence (1928-1934) between Sewell and others. Materials also include manuscripts of Sewell's works, newspaper articles, scrapbooks, and loose clippings and articles written by Sewell about the history of Savannah. The collection also contains correspondence (1891-1908) to and from Robert Deas Gignilliat, Jr, information on Leigh Robinson Gignilliat, and other genealogical materials on the Gignilliat family including photographs.

Glass Plate Slides on Astronomy

This collection consists of twenty-six glass plates slides used to teach Astronomy at Georgia Southern Teachers College, probably in the 1930s. They were produced by the Eastern Science Supply Company of Boston.

This collection consists of materials related to the Guyton city government. Materials include city council minutes from the time of Guyton’s incorporation in 1887 through 1916; photographs of the city council in 1977, a photograph of Guyton City Hall and a photograph of an open minutes book.

Hand Me My Travelin' Shoes collection

This collection consists of the research papers and recordings compiled by English author Michael Gray during the writing of his book on Georgia blues legend Blind Willie McTell, one of the earliest blues performers to record. Materials range from 1991 to 2010, and include recordings and transcripts of interviews with witnesses and folklorists, images of relevant census records, copies of court records, manuscript drafts, extensive correspondence, and the unissued complete recording of McTell’s last studio session in Atlanta, 1956.

Helen Williams Coxon family papers

The collection consists of the papers of Helen Williams Coxon. Materials date from 1765, bulk 1921-1989, and include correspondence, clippings, printed material, photographs and writings pertaining to Coxon's involvement with the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Colonists; her service with Georgia's Pardons and Paroles Board, the Georgia House of Representatives, and the Georgia Senate; and as editor and publisher of the Ludowici News (Ludowici, Long County, Georgia). Eighteenth and nineteenth-century materials included in the collection were collected by Coxon and pertain to family history.

Horace and Maggie Simmons Hagin family papers

This collection consists of materials, spanning 1915-1960, related to the education and careers of Horace and Maggie Simmons Hagin’s five daughters: Bertha, Dell, Ruth, Ida Mae, and Louise Hagin. Materials include report cards, bills, notebooks, photographs, and clippings that document their experiences as college students in Statesboro and as teachers in Bulloch County. The collection also includes drafting plates by Ruth Hagin and Barnie Kennedy, as well as a few personal items.
