It will often describe and summarize the contents of a collection including aspects of its arrangement; the scope of its subject matter; organizations and persons of relevancy; and its chronology.

Rigdon (William McKinley) collection

The collection consists of papers of William McKinley Rigdon from 1930-1982. The papers include correspondence, official military records, clippings, press releases, reports, memoranda, photographs, printed material, two unpublished manuscripts, and a diary (1941) recording Rigdon's naval service as the United States entered World War II. The materials pertain to Rigdon's naval service, particularly as the Assistant Naval Aide (1942-1953) to Presidents Roosevelt and Truman, and after his retirement from the Navy, as Executive Manager of the Virginia Hotel Company. Topics documented by the collection include descriptions of Manila before and during World War II, the Potsdam Conference, and the origins of the Democratic Club (Washington, D.C.).

Ronald J. Neil Papers

Dr. Ronald J. Neil (1902-1991), a Kansas native, lived in Statesboro for 54 years. He received his B.A. & B.S. degrees from Kansas Wesleyan University, M.A.'s from the University of Iowa and Syracuse University, and his doctorate from George Peabody University. He was Music professor at Georgia Southern for several decades, retiring in 1970.
