Edward A. Abercrombie First-day Covers and Stamps

This collection consists of Edward A. Abercrombie’s first edition stamp collection. Materials include first-day covers and United States Postage Stamps from 1950-1984. Notable within this collection is a special cover on the last day of operation of the Statesboro Northern Railroad.

Edward G. Little papers
Zach S. Henderson Library Special Collections
This collection contains Edward G. Little’s personal and professional work, notes, and photographs as a professor, researcher, and scholar from 1921 until his passing in 1998. Included are handwritten and typed drafts and portions of his book Icelandic Sagas: Crossroads of Myth, History, and Sociology, photographs from Iceland, of family, and of research, a great deal of research notes, as well as papers documenting. Little’s time in the Air Force and other group involvements.

Edward M. Higgins papers

This collection consists of the personal and naval papers of Edward M. Higgins, along with photographs and objects related to his career. The materials cover the multiple ships he served on, as well as personal correspondence and photographs from his family. The bulk of the documents are from 1940-1968.

Elizabeth Findley Shores collection of Roland M. Harper

This collection consists of articles and letters-to-the-editor written by Roland M. Harper for publication in scholarly journals. Sometimes in typescript, his works focus on botany, conservation, and social conditions, primarily in the southeastern United States. Spanning 1906-1965, additional documents, photographs and audio visual materials pertaining to Roland M. Harper’s family history are included. The collection’s creator, Elizabeth Findley Shores, is the author of the biography On Harper's Trail: Roland McMillan Harper, Pioneering Botanist of the Southern Coastal Plain (2008).

Erk Russell Oral History Interview and Performance Project

This collection consists of the typed transcripts of interviews with the friends and acquaintances of Coach Erk Russell, whom they worked alongside during his time as the Georgia Southern Eagles football coach in the 1980s and into his retirement in the 1990s. All interviews were conducted by volunteer interviewers from the Communication Arts Department at Georgia Southern University between October 2007 and February 2008.

Eugenia Mills Fulcher Oral Histories

This collection consists of oral histories recorded by Eugenia Mills Fulcher from 1997-1998. The oral histories were used in Mills’ doctoral thesis, “Dreams Do Come True: How Rural One- and Two-Room Schools Influenced the Lives of African Americans in Burke County, Georgia, 1930- 1955,” defended in 1999 at Georgia Southern University. Materials include recordings on cassette tape and transcripts.

Evans County Centennial Celebration collection

Spanning 1911-2014, the materials in this collection include historic photographs, maps, and manuscript materials that were acquired and created by the Evans County Centennial Celebration committee during the Centennial Celebration of Evans County. With one exception, materials span the one hundred years since the county’s founding in 1914. The Centennial Celebration committee sponsored and produced several publications about the history of Evans County. Digital materials consist of photographs, video recordings, maps and other materials about the history of Evans County and the centennial celebration

Donehoo, and Robert Lee Moore.

This collection consists of Frances Corry Lane’s genealogical research pertaining to nineteenth-century Wiregrass Georgia counties, including Bulloch, Burke, Emanuel, and Screven Counties. Materials include handwritten transcripts of several county census records, newspaper clippings, notes, and a register book.

Francis Harper papers

This collection consists of the professional and personal papers of Cornell-trained naturalist Dr. Francis Harper. Materials span 1904-1972 and include field notebooks, correspondence, photographs, and audiovisual materials documenting the plant and animal life as well as human ecology of the Okefenokee Swamp area of South Georgia. The photographs within Series 1 show the flora, fauna, and people of the Okefenokee swamp. The photographs were taken by the Harpers while on their trips to the swamp. Photographs are all in black and white and range in size. The Field Journals chronicle his travels in the okefenokee, Canada, and New England. Materials were used in the writing of Okefinokee Album (sic) by Francis Harper and Dr. Delma “Del” Eugene Presley, published posthumously in 1981.

Frank Skinner collection of Gone With The Wind memorabilia

This collection consists of the auctioned papers of Frank Sinner of Waynesboro, Georgia who worked as an NBC set designer in the 1960s. Materials include photographs and negatives of the film production of Gone With the Wind (1939). Also included are three letters to Frank Skinner from John R. Marsh, Margaret Mitchell’s husband.

This collection was assembled by John A. Frazier of Bulloch County, Georgia. Materials span 1789-1973 and consist of records, mostly letters and deeds, once belonging to families allied to the Frazier family of Washington County, Georgia--particularly the Harman & Brown families, with special focus on Lucy H. Harman and Morgan Brown. Materials also include various court orders; receipts; promissory notes; land plats; genealogical records; certificates; additional correspondence and accounts.

The collection consists of the professional and personal papers of Georgia Southern Professor Emeritus, George H. Shriver. Materials span from 1973 to 1997 and include correspondence, teaching materials, published articles, and manuscripts related to religion in the American South. Additional materials related to Shriver’s tennis coaching career for the Georgia Southern’s Lady Eagles Tennis team are also included.

George W. Scott Civil War letters

Spanning 1857 to 1865, this collection consists of photocopies of handwritten letters from Union soldier George W. Scott to his fiancée (later wife), Kezia S. Piper, as well as his brother, John Scott. The collection also includes the discharge certificate (photocopy) of Cyrus W. Will from Company C, 185th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, May 1863.
