About this Journal

International Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning is an open-access, double-blind, peer-reviewed electronic journal published in May and November each year by the Faculty Center at Georgia Southern University.

IJ-SoTL serves as an international forum for research, dialogue, and reflection on the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and its implications for higher and tertiary education. The journal welcomes contributions that deepen understanding of teaching and learning across disciplines, contexts, and cultures, while promoting scholarly inquiry as a means to improve student learning and educational practice.

Our Foundations

Anchored in inquiry and engagement, the scholarship of teaching and learning re-conceptualizes teaching as an ongoing and scholarly process, emphasizing continuous improvement in student learning (Huber & Morreale, 2002).

SoTL is both an individual and collective commitment to enhancing learning through systematic reflection, evidence-based practice, and open sharing of insights. It supports the ongoing transformation of academic communities and cultures by positioning teaching as a scholarly act—one that is public, peer-reviewed, and aimed at generating impact within and beyond classrooms.
