Assessment and SoTL - Research
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to assess global learning and citizenship attitudes among health science students attending a public liberal arts university. Data were procured from 164 students attending 7 courses from the Fall 2021 semester (response rate 99%). Participants completed a valid and reliable 59 item instrument assessing student attitudes towards global citizenship, the role of citizenship in solving the COVID-19 pandemic, and their views towards an institutional-wide global issues themed course requirement. Survey findings revealed high attitudes towards global citizenship, global learning as a whole, and support implementing a global issues course requirement within the core curriculum.
