Cassie Crowder is one of the current school counselors at Central Academy and she has been in education for 18 years. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Middle School Education from the University of Kentucky and her Master’s Degree in school counseling from Western Kentucky University. She is currently pursuing her principal’s license through the University of the Cumberlands.

Brief Program Description
We are not just an alternative school, we are the school of alternatives. At Central Academy, we pride ourselves in our community partnerships to connect students with post-secondary opportunities. During this presentation, you will learn how we have created and fostered those partnerships. You will also learn how we transition students back to their home school or into the community/workforce.

Learning Objective 1
Participants will be able to understand the process of initiating a transition plan to help decrease recidivism between home school and the alternative school.
Learning Objective 2
Participants will be able to understand the steps we have taken to build relationships within our community to give students an opportunity to earn a high school diploma while participating in our non CTE co-op program. This allows students to earn a paycheck and possible future employment within our community.
Learning Objective 3
Participants will gain a better understanding of how our Alternative School builds relationships within our school and community to help engage our students and to make them productive members of our community.
