Description

The purpose of this paper will be to examine the link between masculinity and the warfare practices of the Zulu Nation from the early 19th century to the end of the Anglo-Zulu War. I will be using various sources including scholarly articles and books written about the man the Zulu Nation was named after, Shaka. My primary sources will come from the London Gazette and London Time Archives. These sources will be reporting on the Anglo-Zulu War. The historical context of this paper will begin with the reign of Shaka and end with the Anglo-Zulu War. My main argument will answer the question: How does warfare directly correlate with masculinity in the Zulu Nation?
