Abstract
(un)said is a poetry chapbook centered around the questions “what is silence?” and “what is the value of silence?” The poetry’s images and lyricism explore the benefits and detriments of silence and environments in which silence explodes. The chapbook builds an arc of realization and confidence through the intersection of silence with the poet’s personal experiences, self-reflection, surrealism, religion, theology, biblical studies, and scientific facts. Recurring themes include common perceptions of quiet people, the lack of true silence, silence as a weapon, censorship and self-censorship, silence of loss, and the harm of the said and unsaid.
