Abstract
A Philosophy major with a Religious Studies concentration uses the critical thinking skills from philosophical inquiry to analyze religion. In addition to learning about Philosophy, a student in Religious Studies will have the freedom to draw from academic disciplines like Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, and History to explore the relationship between religion and culture, politics, law, literature, memory, and sexuality.
This concentration prepares students for Global Citizenship in a religiously and culturally diverse world. Georgia Southern offers Religious Studies courses that address major themes in Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Daoism, Confucianism, as well as diverse indigenous religious systems. This global focus makes the program especially valuable for students considering careers in international business or politics.
