Scriptwriting and Performance as Reflective Process
Conference Tracks
Teaching Practices (Poster Only) – Analysis, synthesis, reflection, and discussion
Abstract
With the push for high-impact experiences to be included in the higher education experience at many universities, instructors seek strategies to prompt reflections that embody academic and personal growth, connections, and experienced affect. This presentation reports on scriptwriting with in-class performance (mini ethno-drama) as an effective tool for promoting and communicating reflection. The authors report on the pedagogical use of scriptwriting, collaborative scriptwriting, and performance. Examples are presented from Education courses but can be effective in a wide range of disciplines. Students are encouraged to write fictional dialogue that they base on the experiences they have heard
