Teaching Practices (Poster Only) – Analysis, synthesis, reflection, and discussion

Abstract

Scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL) provides opportunities for reflection, collaboration, and improvement of teaching practices, and ultimately student learning. The presenter redesigned a social studies methods class that was offered in a 6 week summer session and included 56 students attending either in-person or virtually (hybrid modality). The presenter saw this as a unique yet challenging opportunity to have students experience the development of a project-based learning (PBL) unit, focused on social studies and literacy standards. The poster presentation will include course content (assignments, rubrics, etc.), PBL student artifacts, student feedback, and presenter reflections.
