Assessment and SoTL - Research
Abstract
This talk will compare student success in a flipped classroom model with group projects, three one-hour exams and a final exam with the same format but also including weekly quizzes to reinforce the topics covered on the group projects.
In the flipped model students watched lecture videos before class and completed group projects in class. (An example video can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5RcMWiUyyE ).
Analysis of student grades from flipped classroom with weekly quizzes compared to those sections of the course with no quizzes shows significant improvement on both the final exam as well as the final course grade.
