About SoTL – Analysis, synthesis, reflection, and discussion
Abstract
In thinking about how our students obtain educational resources, we must examine how well they perceive their social networks. More specifically, we must examine how well our students recognize how others can offer educational resources such as providing tutoring or who might offer insights on going to college. Using ego network cognitive social structures (an aspect of social network analysis), this research compares students who identify teachers and administrators as academic support resources and those who don’t.
