Teaching Practices (Poster Only) – Analysis, synthesis, reflection, and discussion
Abstract
Employers of advanced practice nurses seek individuals who are highly competent. Equally important, is the possession of soft skills, such as effective communication, professionalism, an ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams and a high level of emotional intelligence, i.e. self-awareness. A professional e-Portfolio is an effective teaching learning strategy that provides graduate level nursing students the opportunity to reflect on, integrate and showcase learning experiences relevant to defined program curricular outcomes. Through various ‘artifacts’, the student provides evidence of outcome mastery, that demonstrate achievement of advanced knowledge. In congruence with outcome mastery, the student illustrates individual soft skills in action.
