First Presenter's Brief Biography

Engaging, inspiring, energetic, and insightful are just some of the words to describe Vantrel A. Mainor. With a little over 16 years of higher education experience, coupled with senior leadership in other areas, Vantrel has a depth of understanding in subject areas of leadership, teams and organizational wellness. He has earned his Bachelors degree in Marketing from Savannah State University, Masters of Arts in Religion and a Masters of Divinity from Liberty University. He is also received certifications from both Kansas State University (Academic Advisement) and Florida State University (Student Resilience). He is the co-founder of Mainor Global, where he offers training, consulting, and coaching in areas of leadership and organizational health.

Brief Program Description

In 1982 there was a song titled “The Message”. The beginning of the chorus was “Don’t push me cause I’m close to edge, I’m trying not to lose my head”. According to the American Psychological Association, nearly half of adults (49%) report their behavior has been negatively affected both physically and emotionally due to the toll of increased stress. Your well-being is a necessity.

Summary

Teachers, coordinators, and administrators are on the front lines of serving student populations. The investment of time, attention, and energy, in some instances are difficult to quantify. On top of the demanding work that they do; consider the pandemic, which has led to the global disruption of the world as we know it, thus, increasing stress. The importance of mental health and wellness has become more amplified within the last couple of years. Self-care should never be neglected; the person you are, affects the professional you become. This session reveals 22 keys to stress management for personal and professional success. The session will be highly motivational and interactive, which will be necessary to ignite energy in educators, coordinators, supervisors, academic coaches, etc. as they eventually return to the front lines of public-school education. Questions will be presented to participants that will cause them to self-reflect and self-inspect regarding their personal wellness.

Evidence

This presentation has been presented to both students as well as the NACADA Region 4 conference. According to the National Library of Medicine, there are healthy ways to manage stress. Some of those ways are congruent to the some of the principles of the presentation.
