Description of Lecture
Join us as we explore the daily lives of the Vadabalija, a fishing caste who live along the coast of the Bay of Bengal in Andhra Pradesh, India. We will examine anthropological field research which includes genealogies of families, reproductive histories of women and anthropometric measurements of children. The surprising results will show that inbreeding is seen as advantageous to the members of this community. Deborah Walker, Social and Behavioral Sciences
