Relevance
The WATCH D.O.G.S. program has a successful 20 year history of increasing Family Engagement in education which we know is critical to academic success, and we are a "plug and play" program guaranteed to engage a record number of parent volunteers in the educational process of your school. Upon session completion the participants will know how to build a small but mighty group of stakeholders consisting of parents and educators, and how to effectively utilize the training, materials, and prescribed team building strategies to significantly increase Family Engagement.
Brief Program Description
WATCH D.O.G.S. ® is a family engagement educational initiative that utilizes the influence of fathers and father-figures to provide positive, adult male role-models for the students. Come learn how to successfully launch the WATCH D.O.G.S. program in your school(s) to support education and safety, and increase family engagement.
Summary
Through a structured interactive strategy session, supported by testimonials and time-proven best practices, the participants will learn how to utilize the WATCH D.O.G.S. program to reach out to the fathers and father-figures of their students, invite those men to take a full day off of work during the school year and spend that entire day volunteering at their child's schools. The session attendees will learn the steps required to identify a qualified parent program coordinator, build a small team of advocates, create a successful launch event, and then schedule and organize a record number of parent volunteers utilizing the available WATCH D.O.G.S. program materials and support.
Evidence
Over the last 8 years the WATCH D.O.G.S. session has been presented at more than 450 educational conferences, and during that time the attendees have successfully launched WATCH D.O.G.S. programs in more than 5,500 schools across the country. This demonstrates our ability to effectively communicate the relevant program information in a relatively short amount of time, and in a way that is easily received and understood by the adult learner.
Biographical Sketch
Over the past 9 years, Keith Schumacher has been working to positively change the culture of education in America. He has inspired thousands of principals, teachers, counselors and parents to truly engage fathers and father figures (in large numbers) in their local schools. These schools (over 5500) have seen transformational improvements in parent engagement. This dynamic presentation includes proven data, visuals, video and a touch of humor. This educational workshop will certify the attendee to launch the nationally acclaimed Watch D.O.G.S. program at a local school if they and the local administrator choose to do so.
