Abstract
This presentation takes a closer look at various research studies to discover an overarching trend in family engagement and student success. Family engagement is relatively common among younger grades and is a good predictor of higher academic success later in student's educational careers. As students grow older and begin to search for more autonomy, the level of family engagement decreases, but the importance of family engagement remains. This presentation includes an infographic that focuses on positive family relationships—the difference between parental expectations and pressures. Specific interventions middle and high schools can use to foster the growth of family engagement and the statistical data showing the importance of continued family support for the developing student from elementary to secondary school. These findings shed light on the multifaceted impact of parental involvement and provide valuable insights for both educational institutions and families seeking to support students in their academic journey.
Keywords

Professional Bio
My name is Bekah Wood. I am a Family engagement facilitator at Howard High School in Macon, Georgia. It is a gratifying experience that allows me to connect with parents and the community. I am also a student at Valdosta State University, working on earning a master's in clinical mental health counseling. I would love to one day be a crisis counselor who works with children and adolescents for global organizations like the Peace Corps and Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO). I have been working in the school system for the past three years, and I am looking forward to continuing my education and research to help underserved populations of the world.
