Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic presented challenges in online instruction. The presence of IT support is essential to effectively utilize the learning management system (LMS) used for virtual teaching and learning. The purpose of this study is to investigate elementary school teachers perceptions of LMS utilization and availability of IT support through the lens of technology acceptance model and Bandura's theory of self-efficacy. The secondary purpose of this study is to examine the barriers faced by teachers in LMS usage, and the school's efforts to provide IT support. The study intends to implement a sequential explanatory mixed-methods research design. Quantitative survey data will be collected through Qualtrics followed by qualitative interviews. Structural Equation modeling will be used to analyze quantitative data. Summative content analysis will be used to analyze the interview data, to count and compare the main themes and keywords along with interpretation of underlying context. This study would provide insights into teacher's experiences in different content areas and reliance with the use of LMS and technological tools during the COVID-19 pandemic. It will also provide recommendations to help improve the IT support services as well as the functionality and usability of LMS used by elementary school teachers.
