Description

This project offers insight into Alfred, Lord Tennyson's approach to pushing for social change--namely by co-opting traditional nationalistic or patriotic myths and imagery as a framework for subtle critiques of his contemporary society. The project focuses on his use of Arthurian legend (and medieval nostalgia), with a particularly deep dive into his famous poem, "The Lady of Shallott" as an example of his methodologies and the progressive agendas that are present throughout his texts.
