Abstract

All students, in any professional field, would benefit from a major or in Writing and Linguistics because the ability to solve problems on paper, to make formal arguments with compelling evidence, to demonstrate creativity, and to use language in precise and complex ways is demanded for success in any career. The major in Writing and Linguistics includes emphasis in creative writing, technical and professional writing, linguistics, and writing studies; students are free to build their degrees from any combination of these four areas.
