Abstract

The English major is for people who love to read, to think about meanings, to express themselves in words—in short, for people who want to enjoy a life of the mind.

The English major is for students who want to graduate from college with skills that will never lose their value and a degree that prepares them for a wide variety of careers. Many English majors go into business, or editing and publishing, or teaching. Many go to law school or other professional graduate programs.
