Abstract or Description
Science literacy is a critical goal for science education and the public in general. However, there are often barriers that individuals bring to the table that prevent discourse and engagement due to perceived conflict and even fear. It is necessary to create intellectual safe spaces in which discourse can occur that bridges gaps between entities such as science and faith that can create barriers to science literacy or even lead to distrust of scientists. Radical empathy is one such tool that allows conversation and conceptual change to occur
