Abstract or Description
Effective communication is particularly important when what you’re presenting is often considered a socially controversial topic. The National Center for Science Education (NCSE) has 30 years of experience helping teachers discuss evolution and climate change with confidence. Recently, NCSE pioneered an approach to community science outreach focused specifically on these topics, which has proven successful even in places with high barriers to acceptance. In this workshop, NCSE introduces its no-conflict approach to community science outreach—which emphasizes respect, common values, local relevance, and fun—and provides opportunities for role-playing and questions.
