Building the DIY Data Collecting Computer: A Hands-on Activity at the Intersection of Computer Science and Science Education
Session Format
Workshop (45 minutes)
Location
Room 1909
Abstract for the conference program
Participants in this workshop will be introduced to the DIY Data Collecting Computer through a hands-on activity in which they will build the device. The presentation will include a brief overview of the project, including a summary of design and implementation of the project. The DIY Data Collecting Computer is derived from the Arduino Uno and can be customised to measure a wide-range of variables that are relevant to K-16 science classrooms and laboratories. Participants will also learn some basics involved in programming the computer. People with all levels of computer experience are welcome and encouraged to attend. Also, we will be raffling off two of the computers at the conclusion of the workshop.
