Abstract
Due to the social construction of ideological norms, mainstream educators may feel Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBTQ) issues are counterproductive for students’ didactic collegial instruction. Bias may influence one’s cultural values and behaviors to the point where contemporary societal trends are dismissed from classroom conversations in fear of explosive dialogue. Normative captivity of cultural values and behaviors in specific demographics takes precedence and creates juxtaposition within the American value system for justice and equality. Neglecting a disenfranchised population in classroom conversations perpetuate a status quo creating gaps in knowledge and a continuum of null curriculum in LGBTQ health.
