Abstract
This session describes a discipline-centered learning community (TLC) designed to facilitate the social and academic integration of entering psychology transfer majors. The TLC consists of a 2-course block schedule and includes in-community academic advising and opportunities for co-curricular engagement. During its first year, the TLC served 72 transfer students and showed positive impact on student behaviors, attitudes, and academic success. Lessons learned from implementing the TLC during the Covid-19 pandemic—including the use of online teaching tools and building virtual community in a fully online environment—are discussed, along with implications for better serving the unique needs of transfer students.
