Abstract
Adaptive help-seeking occurs when learners seek help to improve their ability to master a skill or comprehend new information. Formal help-seeking strategies include seeking help from school-provided instructions, including teachers, or teaching assistants, while informal strategies include receiving help from peers, friends, or family members. This study summarizes trends related to the integration of adaptive help-seeking strategies in online learning environments (OLE) in hopes of providing suggestions for how instructors can support learner engagement. Participants will leave with a tool to help them integrate adaptive help-seeking strategies in their online courses.
