Abstract
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning scope was a successful structure upon which to devise faculty-development workshops for approximately 60 faculty members at an abroad university. Workshops revolved around classroom management, student engagement, and assessment. A post survey showed participant satisfaction for having a safe space to talk about teaching, and to reflect, explore, and design new teaching approaches. Simultaneously, administrators understood the advantage of using this scholarship-based approach to decrease tensions between the need to document student learning and faculty passion for teaching. Dissimilar assessment understanding and varied ways to document teaching and learning effectiveness were also addressed.
