Teaching Practices (Poster Only) – Analysis, synthesis, reflection, and discussion
Abstract
Stress reduction is a common theme in dental schools due to the high expectations on developing didactic knowledge and clinical dexterity. Previous studies have demonstrated the influence of music on performance of spatial rotation tasks, mood and arousal. The research question is if the use of background music and the preferred music genre benefits the first-year students to reduce their stress level in the dental simulation clinic. The project is in progress, and we expect the outcomes of this project may suggest musical approaches that alleviate stress, instill focus and enhance efficiency when studying in the dental simulation clinic.
