Abstract

This study explores the redesign of an Advanced Inorganic Chemistry laboratory into a course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE) at Georgia Southern University. The design of the CURE course includes authentic research practices, discovery, collaboration, and iteration. We hypothesize that by engaging students in a CURE, we will find a measurable impact on their understanding of scientific research and project ownership. We will measure these impacts by administering the CURE survey developed by Lopatto. Since this study is still in progress, we are reporting on the design of this new course along with preliminary analysis of the survey data.
