Abstract
At the SoTL Commons 2011 Conference we learned about the United States Education Program, part of Wikimedia Foundation's Global Education Program. We immediately saw the potential pedagogical value of using Wikipedia as a tool to achieve course learning objectives. We returned to campus excited about the possibility of implementing Wikipedia projects into our courses during the fall 2011 semester. This presentation will share faculty and student reflections of the integration of two Wikipedia projects—one in a Training Systems course and one in a Telecommunications course. Formative and summative reflection data were collected. Topics of reflections address the projects and supporting assignments, how assignments connect to course learning objectives, benefits and hindrances of using Wikipedia projects, and suggestions for improvement as we continue integrating Wikipedia projects into IT courses. Presenters will brainstorm with the audience on ways that Wikipedia can be integrated into their courses for content delivery and meeting course objectives.
