Abstract
This study investigated the effectiveness of a Sandwich Degree Programme which is an in-service training for primary and secondary school teachers who do not have a first and master's degree and this enhances effective teaching on the part of Nigerian Teachers. It is called sandwich degree programme because the training can only be received during the holiday periods for a specified number of years. Sandwich students were exposed to new teaching methods, skills and knowledge, as well as interpersonal skills to help them in interact with their students for optimum effective teaching. The population of the study was all the Sandwich Students in the University of Ado-Ekiti and University of Nigeria , Nsukka. Three research questions were raised and three corresponding hypotheses were formulated. The data were analysed using percentages, frequency counts and Chi Square . The result of the analyses showed that Sandwich Programme is a good channel of enhancing better performance of teachers.
