First Presenter's Brief Biography

Distinguished Principal, Transformational Leader, Mentor Dr. Ronald Gonzalez serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Administration & Instruction for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns in New York. Prior to this post, he led transformation efforts at Mount Vernon High School for 11 years. His visionary leadership led to improvements in student performance, stability for staff, and several family & community outcomes. He attributes much of the success of this school transformation to systems building, developing teacher talent, and using student voice as an agent of change. Dr. Gonzalez recognizes the power of collaboration and endorses both empowerment and accountability equally and emphatically in and among his team. His collaborative efforts reach well beyond the walls of his institution. As a mentor, Dr. Gonzalez services doctoral students, principals, assistant principals, teacher leaders, and teachers.

This keynote presentation helps to demystify equity as a separate initiative and participants understand that it is woven into the fabric of our work. Participants learn the pitfalls of the equity continuum as well as the power of perseverance for honoring voice and creating leadership. The work of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity must be accompanied by Access for all (I.D.E.A.).
