Come learn about the power of poetry! Learn the many social, cultural, and academic benefits of teaching poetry to improve young students' vocabulary, fluency, and writing skills as well as encourage cultural awareness, appreciation, and understanding. Many books and examples will be shared! Explicit instruction is given regarding topics such as utilizing powerful words, painting pictures with poems, and engaging listeners through your use of expression and voice. Discuss how poetry instruction can be used to increase the vocabulary, writing, and fluency skills of ALL students including striving students and English Language Learners.
