Abstract
This presentation will investigate the potential impact of the opioid epidemic on the spread of HIV and HCV in Chatham and surrounding counties. A discussion will ensue around three years of reported data around hospital emergency department opioid morbidity and mortality trends among patients with HIV and patients with HIV and HCV.

Katie Pincura is an HIV/HCV linkage specialist at the CARE Initiative at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Katie has a professional background in mental health and developmental disabilities services. She is a doctoral candidate at the Jiann Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University. Katie’s research interests pertain to healthcare equity and the impact of policy on health outcomes.
