Abstract
People living with HIV report disproportionately high levels of exposure to traumatic events, and there is ample research showing that traumatic experiences are associated with negative health and behavioral outcomes. This one-hour workshop will examine the effects of not just trauma, but also its synergistic effect on health outcomes when clustered with substance abuse, violence, HIV and other psychosocial problems among marginalized groups and provide participants with promising practices for integrating trauma informed care into existing programs and settings to improve client engagement and HIV and overall health outcomes.
