Description of Lecture

People who know little more about Shakespeare than “To be or not to be” probably are aware of theories that his plays may have been written by a different author, a committee of playwrights, or someone else of the same name. Despite what the gaps in our knowledge of his life may suggest, this lecture will prove that Shakespeare did write Shakespeare, and the arguments for other claimants to authorship of his plays are really efforts to replace the strangeness of truth with the predictability of fiction.
