First Presenter's Brief Biography

Latasha Langdon is the creative owner and founder of Divine Destinies Life Skills, LLC. Her vision is to equip and empower youth and young adults with tools and tips to be successful in reaching their goals and dreams. She strives to prepare them to leave a positive impact on the world through the skills and learning they receive at Divine Destinies. Ms. Langdon has over 20 years of experience providing life strategies to nearly 1,000 youth and young adults from various backgrounds and ages. She has received training in identifying the existence of trauma when working with youth. Ms. Langdon holds an MBA from Cardinal Stritch University and Bachelor of Science degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering. She has over 20 years of corporate work experience and is an active volunteer and mentor to youth and young adults. Ms. Langdon has conducted workshops for various organization and business sectors

Relevance

This proposal is being submitted for the Heart strand - Heart": Social & Emotional Skills Fostering social and emotional skills and the social climate for all children and youth. Our workshop will utilize our On the Edge game to allow adults who work with youth have an immersive experience of the tool. They will learn tips on how to use the tool to have the critical but difficult conversations involving social, emotional, peer pressure and other things they deal with.

Brief Program Description

In our workshop participants will use their devices to log on to the game and be able to experience how the game works. They will experience how they can help youth they work with on social, emotional skills, problem solving and decision making through work through scenario based questions. Our motto is Change your thinking. Change your path”.

Divine Destinies Life Skills & Educational Training (DDLS), LLC strives EMPOWER and help youth and young adults achieve and exceed personal and professional goals. We help build and sharpen critical thinking, problem solving skills, leadership and personal and professional development.

Divine Destinies believes in our kids. One of our mottos is change your Thinking change your Path! We believe they deserve to be heard. It is imperative to listen, watch them and allow expression & emotion so you can understand where they are to better understand how you can effectively help them.

Our youth today are connected to technology most of their day on a variety of devices - phones, tablets, laptops, etc. We have found a way to meet them where they are while also creating a platform to improve their problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills. Our On the Edge Digital conversation game has over 100 scenarios that are randomly sent to each logged in participant for group discussion. Scenario and discussion cover areas including but not limited to depression, bullying, sexual activity, alcohol / drugs. The game is for youth ages 12-17. You can connect using Phone, laptop, Tablet. On the Edge can be played on most virtual platforms including Zoom, Google classroom, etc. and in-person! Game session 2-19 participants.

Evidence
