Relevance
Prison Walls to College Halls, How do you WIN with the most challenging students gives insight on how students at South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice become successful in spite of their circumstances. I believe in building a relationship with all kids. One goal we strive for is helping students achieve academic success and transition from high school students and attend college. Even though students are incarcerated, their charges and crimes do not define who they are. I believe in all kids. If you WIN- You must be willing to do the work and believe in your students, You must Invest in them and You must never give up and keep working toward success, My belief at South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice is "Success Is Our Only Option!"

Summary
The purpose of this presentation is a call to action. Every student needs a champion. Students are identified as bad and incorrigible in elementary school. As they get older, the label changes to "at-risk." Once students are identified as at-risk, several will drop out of school, and will commit crimes leading to incarceration. We all need a WINning formula for success. This will ensure success for the most difficult and challenging students you encounter. Have you ever thought about how these students see educators? We don’t always see things how they are. Instead, we see things how we are. This presentation will help you build relationships with students and make life-changing connections. “Your students may forget what you taught them but will always remember the way you made them feel.” The blueprint for success includes three core values: relationship, restructure, and results. All of our students deserve the best. It is time for us to WIN with students on every level every day.
