Relevance

The year 2020 has been a very challenging year, with a global pandemic(covid-19), social unrest, violence, and a mandatory shut down. This proposal relates to the strans by helping girls inspire kindness, love , friendship, positivity. It also help girls have a greater understanding of empathy, happiness, and promote self-esteem.

Brief Program Description

The take a way from this presentation will help deal with girls self-esteem through self talk, positive thinking, help with building friends and how to be a friend. And book suggestions that help girls with issues that are going on today.

Summary

Resilience factors that play a role in developing the resilience of youth: The young person herself The family which should provide a significant degree of functioning , positive support, bonding, and stable discipline. The community environment which provides a certain level of social support. Resilience with African Americans and Hispanic girls and other young ladies many factors and experiences contribute to their strengths. Positive self concepts, positive relationships with friends, family and parent or parents tolerance. Discussions and sample activities example: helping girls to speak up, culture influences. What happen to people throughout history, to people like me? Friendship how to make friends and what friendship looks like also how not to become a bully and what to do if they are bullied. Book title suggestions for girls. Books help greatly with discussions.

Biographical Sketch

Program Manager working directly with at risk girls , Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia Mentoring Certificate for non-profits from United Way of the Lowcountry Former member of International Reading Association state board of directors where I was chairperson of parent and reading. Attended Savannah State College(University) and University of South Carolina(120 CEU) Elem. education and early childhood education. National Advocate for American Diabetes Association served on the national committee for health disparities in rural areas. Dr. MLK honorable mention humanitarian award.
