Summary

What would you give to be more connected? This presentation is designed for educators to learn the top habits around engaging and connecting to their students, their families, colleagues and administration. The thoughts, feelings and actions related to building great connections will be explored in this in-depth discussion. Presenting based on the personal and professional rules of engagement for great etiquette, Sadiq Ali will walk participants through some of the keys he’s learned in over 15 years of corporate and community leadership. These are lessons and anecdotes that many educators will be shocked apply directly to their struggles in schools and classrooms across the nation. This presentation will also be based on Sadiq’s proprietary AIM and THETOPHAT models for connection management.

Evidence

Our team have worked in over a dozen Baltimore City Public Schools since they began work in 2014. However, their team’s combined leadership experience is in excess of 50 years in the areas of youth development, leadership coaching and development and strategies that produce results across industries. In the schools and government agencies that have worked with our team, it has been documented through qualitative observation via preset cohorts that our approaches have led to better, more civil relationships that have resulted in the ease of instruction going up. We also utilize pre and post assessment (self-reported survey methodology) throughout our engagement process to ascertain effectiveness.

Biographical Sketch

Sadiq Ali, MBA is a trainer, speaker, college professor, etiquette expert, connection consultant, successful entrepreneur and author of the book, Millionaire Manners: The Men’s (and Boy’s) Guide to Social Grace in the New Age. He also is the founder of Millionaire Manners Academy, a full-service training and educational consultancy that focuses on teaching leadership, life skills and career readiness through the framework of excellent personal and professional etiquette. He is also the creator of the Young Gentlemen’s Institute, an all-male personal and professional etiquette and leadership training program. He also recently founded and created the Young Gentlemen’s Institute Conference Tour, which is scheduled to hit 6 cities in 2015 and 12 in 2016. A native of Washington, DC, Sadiq now calls Baltimore, Md. home, where he lives with his wife and four children. He has guest lectured at his alma mater, Morgan State University and is currently a part of the Adjunct Faculty at Coppin State University. Through his work, Sadiq is also a certified Mentoring Consultant with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Maryland. Besides his work, Sadiq continues to mentor and work with youth organizations of all sizes to build up young people, having worked with numerous schools, government agencies in the Baltimore area, many non-profits and several re-entry programs training those returning home from incarceration. He believes strongly in the words of Frederick Douglass: “It is easier to build strong children, than to repair broken men."

It was in the proving ground of corporate America where Sadiq learned and honed the skills he teaches in his book and through the Academy, as he was promoted over 5 times in 8 years and was earning six figures by the age of 25. As a young leader Sadiq also realized certain truths about connection and the interconnected of us all that led him to create this presentation and others like it. He believes that through connection—with self, others, and community—great positive changes and gains are to be had.
