Abstract or Description
Let O be a rectangle symmetric with respect to the axes and exclude 1. The asymptotic convergence factor (ACF) for O is used to measure the rate of convergence for the asymptotically optimal semiiterative methods for solving a linear system x = Tx + c, where the spectrum of T is a subset of 0. The sensitivity of the ACF for O to a perturbation of its boundry is investigated with the application of Hardamard's variation formula. Three formulae for the sensitivity are derived.
