Abstract

In today’s library landscape, effective communication is crucial for ensuring all stakeholders,
including library personnel, faculty, and students, stay informed about updates, disruptions, and
changes to electronic resources. As an electronic resources librarian, clear and timely communication is essential not only for troubleshooting issues but also for helping library users navigate and
make the most of our evolving digital collections (NASIG, 2021). This article explores Georgia
Southern University Libraries’ eTeam’s practices for communicating electronic resource updates,
system maintenance, and service disruptions to library personnel, but these practices can be used
to communicate to stakeholders other than those within the library.
Georgia Southern University is a large public university with over 26,000 students and
approximately 1,100 faculty members. It operates three campuses, with libraries at two campuses,
and offers more than 140-degree programs, with strengths in engineering, health, business, and
education. Over half the faculty are tenured, and the university is classified as a Carnegie R2
research institution
