Abstract
The integration of the vibrant, active world of social media into online education might seem a natural fit, but it is often a difficult process. Chapter 6 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 55, no. 4), “Librarians as Online Course Designers and Instructors,” explores the instructional considerations that must be addressed before doing so, including learner preferences, building relatedness, harassment and privacy issues, and assessment challenges.
