This proposal provides motivational strategies regarding student success and achievement teaching information literacy skills to diverse student populations at several educational institutions in three states.
Proposal
Teaching information literacy skills to diverse populations such as active military, first generation, dual enrollment high schoolers and international students often requires flexibility, compassion, and culturally sensitive learning approaches. Having served in many capacities as a school media specialist, American History instructor, and a Reference/Instructional Services Librarian in urban, rural and online settings, these unique experiences galvanized me to find motivational strategies and primarily electronic resources that relate to successful information literacy learning outcomes for those served by this educator in three states, Florida, New Mexico and Mississippi. This presentation, therefore, is about advocating for student success and achievement tailored to the needs of the community one serves.
