Proposal
Distance education students acquire essential information literacy skills via embedded librarianship and online video tutorials. This poster provides an overview of the embedded librarian program at South University and online video tutorials at Samford University. Both institutions provide innovative library services and research support to their respected web-based patrons. The embedded librarian efforts at South University have assisted students to increase awareness of library resources, effectively evaluate available resources, and successfully access needed information. Online tutorials at Samford University reinforce fundamental skills introduced during on-campus orientation sessions and assist students to access information from numerous resources while facilitating active learning. Each of these efforts are methods that effectively support the Association of College & Research Libraries Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education.
