Scope and Content
This collection consists of materials related to the family of American lyricist and songwriter, Johnny Mercer. Materials span 1906 to 2010 and include letters, photographs, published material, newspaper clippings, memorabilia and unpublished manuscripts. The collection focuses on the Mercer family, especially Lilian C. Mercer and Nancy Mercer Gerard, as well as the life and career of Johnny Mercer.

Acquisitions Information
Nancy and Stephen Gerard began arrangements for the donation of the Mercer Family Collection to Armstrong Atlantic State University’s Special Collections in 2006, part of preparations for Savannah centenary celebration of Johnny Mercer’s birth in 2009. By 2009 the Collection described here was in place.
